T.J. Jacobberger, General Mgr/Partner

As General Manager of The Tavern At Lark Creek, T.J. Jacobberger provides guests with exceptional dining experiences using his extensive knowledge of the industry, dedication to guest satisfaction and belief in strong staff education. Prior to joining The Tavern At Lark Creek in January 2008, Jacobberger assisted in opening Izzy’s Steaks and Chops in Larkspur.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, and the son of FM Jacobberger renowned hospitality industry veteran; Jacobberger found his way to the restaurant industry through his love of community. “Growing up in a family of nine, we would gather at restaurants for special occasions,” explains Jacobberger. “These warm memories inspired me to be a part of the industry, ensuring other families and friends have the same experiences.”

Jacobberger has seen the restaurant industry from many different points of view. His earliest jobs were working as a busboy and dishwasher as a young man. After attending the University of Nebraska and UCLA studying finance, he reentered hospitality, working as General Manager for California Restaurant Systems in San Diego and Hawaii before accepting a position as the Assistant Food and Beverage Director at the Four Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach.

In the 1990’s, Jacobberger spent seven years as Director of Operations/ Human Resources for the Kimpton Group in San Francisco, heading operations and development activities for the restaurant division.

While Jacobberger’s history in finance, human resources, and on-the-job experience separate him from many restaurant managers, it is his insight on customer relations and his ability to see the “big picture” that allow him to truly stand out from the crowd. Jacobberger is constantly planning improvements in all aspects of the restaurant and implementing the steps to turn his visions into reality.

“One of the most important aspects of my job is to ensure that we continue to surpass our guests’ expectations and raise the bar in industry standard,” says Jacobberger. “At The Tavern At Lark Creek, we do this by using the best seasonal, farm-fresh products, adhering to sustainable standards in procuring our seafood and meats, bringing the complete experience to our guests with caring and professional service.”

Jacobberger lives in Larkspur with his wife Amy and children Tanner, Tyler and Tucker. When not at The Lark Creek Inn, Jacobberger especially enjoys barbequing with his family, fishing, golfing and coaching little league baseball.
